Your employer can use the government Coronavirus Job Retention scheme to pay you while you\u2019re not working. This is known as being a \u2018furloughed worker\u2019.<\/h5>\n
Your employer might tell you you\u2019re being furloughed if they can\u2019t pay you or if there\u2019s no work – for example, if your place of work has closed.<\/h5>\n
You can also ask to be furloughed. You might want to do this if you:<\/h5>\n
are \u2018extremely vulnerable\u2019 and following government guidance to stay at home for 12 weeks – known as \u2018shielding\u2019
\nlive with someone who is \u2018extremely vulnerable\u2019
\nare looking after your children while their school is closed
\nare pregnant or have a health condition and you\u2019re worried about coronavirus
\nstopped working for your employer after 28 February and they agree to rehire you
\nYou\u2019ll need to meet some criteria to be eligible for the scheme – these are to do with how your employer pays you.<\/h5>\n
If your employer applies to the scheme, you\u2019ll be paid 80% of your normal pay up to a maximum of \u00a32,500 a month. This will continue until the government ends the scheme or you return to work.<\/h5>\n
Your employer can claim money to pay you for any time you stopped working after 1 March 2020. This is called \u2018backdating\u2019 your pay.<\/h5>\n
